The kids have been taking Spanish lessons at school, and they are smarter than I thought.
The laughter should have given their game away.
All this time I thought they were saying Te quiero, papá (I love you, dad) but they were occasionally saying Te quiero, papa (I love you, potato), to their great mirth.

Paul Kelly often makes me cry. I mean, when I do, Paul Kelly will do it. His thoughtful lyrics touch the heart.
Some songs are pretty tough to hear. They are about real life and life can be fairly gritty. But we should listen anyway.
People who are not touched by his songs should, I think, have someone check for a pulse. In my humble opinion.
He is a gift from God this bloke.

Went to see Clone Wars with the kids. The computer-generated actors can sure act!
Spoiler:
****************************************************************************
Pizza The Hut's cute but annoying little crippled son "Stinky" saves the day and the gnone yooniverse by solving a cubic equation and burping the alphabet to produce resonance which destroys Count Dufus's custom pimped duck-egg blue landspeeder (which - and this cracked me up - has a bobble-headed Emperor on the dash board), delaying his arrival at a crucial battle in which the stupid droids just stand there and die from death administered by thousands of New Zealanders who all look and sound the same. The part that could be distressing for younglings (who may take this stuff seriously) is when Stinky is accidentally eaten by his father (that's why you never hear about him again) but hey, padawans need to toughen up. Anyway, there is a close-up to a tear in Obi Wan's eye, and in some genius screenwriting, Anakin says "Instead of calling him Stinky, he should have been called "Luke" which cleverly segueys to the Episode III story.
****************************************************************************
OK so maybe that's not really absolutely strictly what actually happened. But I do guarantee The Farce is stronger with each episode :)
It's also for big kids who have to see them all, for the sake of Completion.
No one can see me sitting in the study at the computer, using my Mag-Lite as a Lightsabre.
I liked it. Would I see it again? No. Would I buy it when it comes out on DVD? Absolutely.

I remember when I was in high school and we all waited for the great nuclear holocaust which would either bring about a horrible fiery end to the world, or enslavement by evil communist hordes.
Strange how all those memories come back and are still vivid. But we're all friends, now. Right?
Time again to sleep with one eye open . . .
. . . and I like tinned food so much.
